Siqi Tong, musicologist/erhu player

Born and raised in China, Siqi Tong earned her B.M. in erhu Performance from China Conservatory of Music (Beijing, China), studying with Lingling Liang. She is currently persuing her M.M. in musicology and erhu performance at Peabody and China Conservatory of Music.

As a musicologist, Siqi has been invited to be a music journalist and critic of Music Weekly since 2022 and wrote press release for NCPA( National Centre for the Performing Art, Beijing, China). Up to now, she has published more than 15 articles in Music Weekly, Music Weekly Wechat public platform, and the official Wechat platform of the Chinese National Center for the Performing Art. Her research focuses on Chinese Orchestra and the connections and exchange of Chinese and Western music.

Siqi has made remarkable achievements in the field of erhu. In 2019, She was chosed to be a finalist in China Media Group China Instrumental Music Competition. In 2020, Siqi won the Bronze of 3rd Nanyang International Music Competition( emsemble). In 2022, Siqi was awarded the Outstanding Graduate of China Conservatory of Music and honorary title of Beijing Outstanding Graduate. Her thesis was awarded Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis of China Conservatory of Music. In August 2022，she won the Special Gold Award of Erhu Professional Group in National Music Education Conference. In 2023, Siqi won the first prize of Golden Bell Award Selection in Jiangxi Province, China.

Siqi has been invited to be a guest player at Suzhou Chinese Orchestra, Beijing Chinese Orchestra and Chinese National Traditional Orchestra since 2021. She was chosed to perform at the closing ceremony of the 11th Beijing International Film Festival. In the year 2019, Siqi performed at the concert to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China, Slovakia and Serbia as a member of the Beijing Arts Federation, as well as the open ceremony of Asian Civilization Forum.
